Do use suitably shaped hangers with the thickness if your shoulders, never wire or plastic.
Do not overfill your wardrobe or drawers.
Clothes need to breathe. Let a garment rest twenty-four hours before wearing it again.
Like a pair of shoes, you want to rest them. I always say you want to give your suit at least 24 hours of rest before wearing it again. And always have it hand-pressed and not dry cleaned. Dry cleaning uses chemicals that strip all of the natural oils out of the fabric.

Do empty your pockets before you hang up jackets or trousers.
Do not put anything away when it is wet or damp.
Do put hanging covers over rarely worn garments.
Do not store clothes in direct light.
Do not forget about garments in the back of the car.
Protect wool and cashmere from moths by using cedar blocks in your drawers and wardrobe. Moths eat collagen in natural fibres. They also do not like the scent of lavender.
Make sure knitwear is clean before it is put away and store for longer periods — such as the Summer months — in sealed containers.
